Swimmers need meets and meets need officials. The goal of officiating is to ensure fair competition in EFSL sanctioned and USA Swimming approved meets. Without officials at these meets, the times swimmers achieve would not be valid. While there are minimum requirements for the number of officials needed to run a meet, meets with more than the minimum present run far more efficiently. Ultimately, it's the swimmers who benefit. In this course, we will dive into the philosophy of officiating and the expectations for officials on deck. We’ll introduce officials’ functions and how they work together.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Recognize common procedural functions in order to collaborate within a team of officials.
Demonstrate professional conduct as an EFSL official
Implement the expectations for an EFSL official
Identify members of the officiating team and recognize how all the roles work together
Understand the pathway available to complete certification for Stroke and Turn, Chief Judge, Starter, Referee, and Administrative Official
