At the conclusion of each event, lane timer sheets should be collected and delivered to the stats table, stacked in order by lane.
As you prepare to enter times for each swimmer, review each set of times for validity. If a lane timer has noted an issue, such as “missed start” or “late on the finish”, then that watch time should be considered invalid and not entered. Generally, the three watch times should be grouped fairly tightly together. If you have a time that is significantly different than the other two, or three times spread out, you may need to investigate. Did the timer forget to note a problem? Are you mis-reading their handwriting?
Enter each swimmer’s valid watch times into the three columns labeled Backup 1, Backup 2, and Backup 3. Do not include any punctuation (e.g., enter 13542 for 1:35.42). Double-check swimmers’ names as you enter times to make sure you are entering results in the correct place.
HINT: If you have more than one heat, check the box at the top of the screen [Enter Results by Lane (Ctrl-E)]. This will reconfigure the results table at the bottom of the window to allow you to enter the results one lane at a time, just as they are written on the lane timer sheets. The heat list window at the bottom will switch from sorting by heat to sorting by lane and the heat buttons will become "lane" buttons.
After the watch times are entered and reviewed, click [Calc : Ctrl-K] to display the Time Adjustment table.
MM will select the middle watch time when there are three watch times.
When there are only two valid watch times, MM will average the times for you.
Confirm that you wish to accept the times in the Adjusted Times column and the Use box is checked for the lane in question. Click [Accept Adjusted] and MM will place the adjusted time in the result column.
Following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Following the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
When a primary timing system (semi-automatic) malfunction is confirmed on a lane (timer error, Dolphin/Time-Drops malfunction, etc.) and secondary timing system (manual watch) backup times are available, the backup manual watch times for that lane shall be used to determine the official time.
In this scenario, if two of the three valid watch times agree, that shall be the time for that; if three valid watches disagree, the time of the intermediate watch shall be the time; If only two valid watch times are available, the time shall be the average of those two watch times. If only one watch time is available, the time of that watch shall be the time funless that time conflicts with other information. If such a conflict exists, the Administrative Official shall gather as much data as possible and determine the time.
Delete all semi-automatic times, since the primary timing system has malfunctioned. You are using the secondary timing system (manual watches) to determine the official time. Type in the watch time(s) in Backup 1, 2, and 3, and calculate as normal (middle, average or single watch time).
Under no circumstances should times from two dissimilar devices (Dolphins/Time-Drops and manual watches) be combined or averaged.
Be sure to make a note somewhere explaining why you needed to use the secondary times. This can be a brief notation on the lane timer sheet, on the AO's heat sheet, or on a printout of the Calc screen– if you need to remember weeks or months from now what happened with this heat, you will want some kind of note to jog your memory. Example: “L3: All timers pressed the wrong button on Dolphins/Time-Drops–no Dolphin/Time-Drops times. Used watches.”
When, because of an early or late start, or other equipment or operator malfunction, the time of the primary timing system (Dolphin/Time-Drops) is equally incorrect for all the lanes in a heat, but the order of finish and thus the absolute difference of time between the swimmers is accurate, the times of the primary system shall be adjusted by calculating the average difference between the primary times and the valid back-up times and adding, or subtracting when appropriate, that difference to the primary times of every lane in that heat.
This means that if the Dolphin/Time-Drops Starter fails to start with the electronic starter signal, the official should manually start the Dolphin/Time-Drops Starter, even though the swimmers are likely halfway across the pool.
Make sure your timers are aware to capture times on both timing systems!!!
The Lane Timers record the manual watch times exactly as they appear on their watches.
MM has a built-in heat malfunction option to assist in this calculation.
Pull in the Dolphin/Time-Drops times, as usual, even though you know you have a heat malfunction. Use the same process as you would if there was no heat malfunction to determine tentative heat results. [Get Times] → [Calc : Ctrl-K] → [Accept Adjusted]. They will be off significantly since the semi-automatic system started late. That is expected.
Make sure there are times in the Finals Time column of the Run screen.
Click on [Calc : Ctrl-K] again. Now check the box for ‘Show Heat Malfunction’. This should bring up the Heat Adjustment Using Watch Times table.
Enter manual watch times. If you have two manual watches, you will need to compute and enter the average. The digits representing thousandths of a second shall be dropped with no rounding. If you have only one watch per lane, enter that time in the Watch column.
MM will calculate the adjustment by taking the average difference between the primary times (the Dolphins) and the valid backup times (the watches) and adding or subtracting the difference to the primary time of every lane in the heat. Click [Accept Adjusted] → [Yes].
Once all heats of an individual event have final results, click [Score : Ctrl S] from the Run screen, which will bring up the results report for that event. Some host teams print each event and post individually, and some wait to print several events at a time. If you want to wait to print multiple events later, just exit out of the report screen. If you wish to print the individual event results, enter quantity and click on the printer icon at the top left of the screen.
If results reports do not look the way you expect/prefer, check the set-up.

This can be used to collect the signatures of the meet referee and the statistician. These signatures do NOT need to be submitted with meet results, but they should be retained by the statistician with the other meet files that are kept until the end of the season. It is also acceptable to collect these signatures on another form, such as any other official meet document, such as a results report.

This report provides a lot of summary data, but you are concerned with only two things:
How many swimmers? (Teams must have a minimum of 6 swimmers to be eligible for the award.
What is the percentage of improved times? The team with the greatest percentage of improved times (with at least 6 swimmers participating) is the winner.
As you scan through the pages, here is where you should be looking:
It is a nice touch to print the page of the winning team and pass it on to the awards table or announcer. It is fun and exciting to include the actual percentage when the winner is announced.
The other Divisional team award is also limited to teams with a minimum of six swimmers. Make a note of any teams that are not eligible due to insufficient numbers.
GMA §102.2.6.A: “Team (minimum of 6 swimmers) with most points-per-swimmer. Team scores are calculated and divided by the number of swimmers entered in the meet for each team. The team with the highest number of points-per-swimmer wins. A team must have at least six (6) swimmers entered in the meet to qualify for this award.”
Hytek calls this calculation “Quality Club Scoring”.
